The Democrat controlled city council of New Orleans and the mayor of that city are hoping to rewrite the history of that town to conform to their thinking. I would suspect their thinking on the past goes something like this: "the over 600,000 white men who died during the war was not to free the slaves, but just to obtain cheaper cotton for the north"! But seriously, removing statues and renaming streets is just the first step on the road to book burning's and the shutting down of all free speech that doesn't conform to the neo-fascist agenda of the progressive left.
